🎉We welcome Marim School, Portugal, to the International FairPlay Passport Olympia Club!🎉 🌟The Marim School 🌟 (original name: Escola Básica n.º 1 de Marim) is a primary school (students ages 6-10) today with 37 students, situated in the heart of the Ria Formosa National Natural Park (one of Portugal´s 7 natural wonders), in the Olhão municipality, southernmost region of the country (Algarve region). For years, the school, which belongs to the João da Rosa School Hierarchy, has been known for its tranquility and friendly learning environment, leading regionally in terms of academic results and teaching methods. But the Marim School is mostly famous as the birthplace of the Quelfes Games (the Atlantiad | Quelfes Games Olympic Education Project), hosting annually the "Call to the Games" event, a ceremony calling other schools to compete under the values of Olympism and announcing the Games´ host. The Quelfes Games are a multi-sport event, inspired by the writings of Pierre de Coubertin (III Olympic Letter, Lausanne, 1918) to propose an "Olympism competition", where the games between teams are gatherings (and not confrontations) and scores are based on a combination of physical, ehtical and intellectual skills.. Under the leadership of the Portugal National Olympic Academy, this event has grown over the years, attracting the participation of schools both from Portugal and Spain.
